Sleepio for UK health professionalsUntil now, most healthcare professionals have only been able to provide basic sleep hygiene advice or prescribe hypnotics for chronic insomnia. Clinical guidelines recommend Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for insomnia but access to face-to-face therapy is limited in the NHS. Sleepio is an online self-care programme based on CBT for insomnia (CBTi). It has been evaluated by NICE and tested across eight randomised controlled trials in over 6,900 people. It is proven to help people make lifestyle changes to improve both insomnia symptoms and mental wellbeing. Sleepio is suitable for adults (aged 18+) who have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep through the night. Users need to have an email address and access to the internet.
